Parallels For Mac Latency

I have a 2013 MacBook Pro and want to play some PC games, relatively lightweight stuff (Age of Empires, Maple Story, etc). I tested Parallels for this and it was mostly fine but I did notice my computer pushing during an online Civ 5 game. Parallels, which makes software for running Windows on a Mac, would want to tap into the larger market for iOS devices even if it couldn't provide the same level of performance it can on the Mac.
